The worst time to look for an attorney is when you need one. A good way to establish a client/attorney relationship is to have them incorporate your US company - then you get access as and when you need assistance with contracts, terms and conditions, IPR, disputes, employment, mergers, acquisitions, trade sales, venture capital...
Consider appointing a US law firm with offices in the UK as well as a US-based firm: you might find it convenient to talk and meet your attorney in the UK.
Other than in cities including New York and San Francisco, US attorneys' fees compare favorably with those in the UK.
