| Bank account in the US Having a US bank account can give improve access to your deposited funds from as much as four weeks or more to as little as three days.
Having an account with a US bank is not the same as having a US dollar account with a UK bank.
In the USA you have more than 7,000 banks from which to choose (that is banks, not branches). Not all US banks will make payments to non-US banks (incredible as that may seem). Some UK banks have US dollar accounts and even branches (HSBC used to have more than 400 branches in the US, but more than 400 of those were in New York - it sold 195 of them to First Niagara Financial Group in August 2011 ), but that is not the same as being a US bank.
Since the passing of the Patriot Act and introduction of anti-money laundering legislation, it is nearly impossible for a non-US citizen or company to open a company bank account in the US.
At ExportAction we open electronic bank accounts for our clients, but we take every opportunity to stress that while we will deposit incoming funds, we will not hold passwords or check (cheque) books, nor make withdrawals, payments or transfers - it is your money!
