Central America
Central America’s population of 41,739,000 (2009) is spread out over seven countries:  Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Panama.

While tourism accounts for much of the overall economy, agriculture plays a major role – coffee, sugar cane and bananas are its largest exports.

Major Imports:  Machinery and construction materials

Central America’s main trade partners are the US and EU. It is a member of the following treaties:  CAFTA, CAFTA-DR, NAFTA (partial).

The markets of Central America are well served from the US – particularly the East Coast state of Florida.
