GSA schedule
Selling to US government.
General Services Administration (GSA)
You can sell direct to government, or through third parties. You may want to look at getting your product into the public sector by sub-contracting to a prime contractor (this is especially true for the defense (defence) sector. You may be advised to apply for General Services Administration (GSA) participation - though this is not necessarily good advice!

The thing to remember about being on a GSA schedule is... you are on a list. You still have to do the selling: orders will most probably not start arriving as an automatic reaction.

The US public sector spends more in a year than the entire UK gdp - and that is just the federal budget and does not include the 50 states, one district (District of Columbia) and 36,000+ local government budgets.

"GSA is the centralized procurement for the federal government offering products, services and facilities that federal agencies need to serve the public. GSA offers businesses the opportunity to sell billions of dollars worth of products and services to federal agencies."

Take a look at www.gsa.gov, but only when you are feeling strong enough to cope with the mountain of information. Also take a look at ITTs.

Make no mistake, GSA is a great organization and performs a valuable service to US tax payers, but the processes for vendors can be daunting. To help you deal with the process of inclusion on GSA schedules there are many consultants of varying qualities and at varying costs. Quotes for doing the application for you are known to have been as little as £5,000 and as much as £35,000 and to take between eight weeks and eight months. Buyer beware.
